Today’s recipe is based upon Lorraine Pascal’s recipe. You first bake a chocolate cake by mixing all ingredients together and bake in a pre-heated oven at 175 degrees for about half an hour. I used a 24cm cake tin to do so. After the cake has had time to cool down, start making the buttercream. I only put it on top because believe me, this thing is rich enough as it is. You then start putting the Maltesers on top.

What you need: 150 gr of soft butter, 200 gr of caster sugar, 150 gr of self-raising flour, 4 eggs, 125ml of sour cream, 40 gr of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon on baking powder, some vanilla essence and a pinch of salt. To make the buttercream I used icing sugar, soft butter, 2 tablespoons of milk and some melted chocolate. And oh yeah, I almost forget the Maltesers! 😉

The result is a real show stopper. A rich, dark chocolate cake covered with the most delicious treat I know… Believe me, it will put a smile on everyone’s face.
