Christmas is approaching fast. High time to test my brand new Christmas tree-shaped silicone mold I brought back from my recent trip to Italy. My two eldest are currently studying for exams so I figured they deserved a treat. I went for a kid-friendly Christmas cake. 



I first baked an easy quatre-quarts cake (250 gr of sugar, 250 gr of self-raising flour, 250gr of butter and 4 eggs) to which I just added some vanilla to give it that nice touch. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 35 minutes at 175 degrees.



For the buttercream, you just mix butter with icing sugar and colour it any way you want. My piping skills are far from excellent, but I’m learning.



Smarties and retro-chewing gums make perfect and colourful tree decorations.



My tasting panel certainly approved. 😉
